Park Building Bids Opened For Big Bend Admin Building
Bids for the new Administration Building at Big Bend National Park will be opened at 2 p.m. Thursday June 15 in Panther Junction. Seven park exhibits will be on display. offices and post office will be inside, plus a 196 seat community hall with kitchenette. Building totals include 11730 square feet of floor area, a 2200 square foot porch, and an 11000 square foot paved patio and walk area. Construction features include concrete block masonry precast facing and aluminum entrances with acoustic tile ceilings ceramic tile floors and vinyl flooring and an electric heat pump system.

Three area athletes accept athletic scholarships at Sul Ross State College. Lee Anderson of Alpine joins Eddie Webb of Marfa and Felix Valles of Sanderson to compete in football and track. E Olazaba Buried Here After Fatal Shooting
Funeral services for Enrique Olazaba 57 longtime janitor at Centennial School were held Tuesday in the Mexican Methodist Church with burial in the Latin American Cemetery. He was found dead Saturday in the cemetery with a .38 caliber pistol beside him. Sheriff Jim Skinner and Texas Ranger Arthur Hill investigated noting a recent illness. Olazaba born in 194 in Alpine and survived by two sisters a sister in San Antonio three brothers Bill in San Diego Aurelio overseas with the Army and a Chile of Alpine.
