Destructive Cloudburst Strikes Stillwell Ranch Area
The Ruff Murrah, Ollie Cox, and Pope Estate ranches endured the worst recorded flood in years with estimates up to 20 inches of rain. Murrah fences and corrals were destroyed, sheep scattered on hills, and Johnson grass fields wiped out. Stillwell ranch received up to 35 inches from the overflow. Hail piled 3 to 4 feet deep near Decie ranch, with goats lost and pastures drying elsewhere. Local officials noted 2 to 3 feet water on hills and extensive road damage requiring rebuilding.
