S P Employees Killed In Fall
L M Wooten about 45 of Sanderson was killed when he fell between cars of a west bound freight one mile west of Alpine about 10 20 p m Tuesday. He was a long time employee of the Southern Pacific railroad working as a train man on the freight. The body was found at 11 30 by another west bound train crew. His wife and daughter are reported to live in Sanderson. Funeral arrangements are pending.

William Landon Haynes 84 a retired ranchman died at home Tuesday after an extended illness. He moved to Alpine five years ago from Real county for health reasons and had ranching ties in Edwards and Real counties. Survived by widow, a daughter Mrs S F Burleson of Alpine, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Body taken to Vance Real county for burial.

Two Wounded In River Shooting Near Alpine
Two young men were critically wounded in a shooting at Lajitas on the Rio Grande, 100 miles south of Alpine. Jim Watters and Luther Watters Jr were shot with a .45 caliber pistol. Hector Cota, a Mexican citizen, suspected of firing, fled across the river.
