South Texas Horned Steers Fetch Record Prices
High price record set for South Texas fat horned steers at a May 20, 1924 sale by Live Stock Commission Co. with 198 head from Del Rio averaging 1200 pounds sold to Clinton Missouri feeder at 8.50. Some cattle weighed 984 pounds and brought 8.55 to Armour Packing Co. The tallied steers, famed for the V band, were fattened on Tallow Weed and Pen Vine.
