Rock Island and Orient Officials Visit Alpine
Rock Island and Orient officials toured Alpine on Monday to inspect the Orient for possible purchase by the Rock Island. The aim is extending the Orient to Mexico, improve freight and passenger service, and strengthen the entire system. Alpine could gain machine shops or a division end, with better railroad connections and regional benefits. Mrs. Kate Nevill warns that trespassers on Nevill Ranch lands will face full penalties.
