Alpine High Band Holds Inaugural Banquet
Alpine High School hosted its first band banquet at the Community Center Saturday night with Supt. Earl Bland of Marathon as principal speaker. About 50 band members dined on ham and greens as Mrs. J. L. Waller chaired five committees. Gifts included a Gandy's ice cream dessert, and certificates of honorary membership were awarded to Supt. Peton Cain. Alpine officials praised the Band Boosters for presenting the event.

Alpine Team Wins Beef Division in Lubbock Judging Contest
Alpine High School livestock judging takes first in beef at the Lubbock meet among 117 teams and 351 boys. Team members Vaughn Musgrave Eddie Fowlkes Alan Turner, coached by Aaron Jacoby, earn high honors with Fowlkes second high point. Wool team places seventh. dairy team fails to place top ten. Area contest on Tech campus drew about 1,600 boys across central Texas. Alpine advances to state with Musgrave Turner and Fowlkes joined by Jacoby. state event May 14 includes neighboring Alpine Fort Davis Marathon crews.

Whiteside Attends Delta Kappa Gamma Convention Meet
Miss Myrtle Whiteside head of Alpine High School and Mis neston of Marfa Public Schools represented Beta at the 26th annual Delta Kappa Gamma convention in Mineral Wells on April 22. The focus was fundraising for a debt free national headquarters to be built in Austin by April 1946. Delta Kappa Gamma is a national honorary society for women educators. Beta Tata Chapter includes about 50 members from Fort Davis Marfa Marathon Sanderson and Alpine.
