The Third and Fourth grades honored their teacher Mrs Preston Wyatt with a party at the club house on Wednesday the 10th. Mothers attended along with the sister of Mrs Wyatt and Barbara. Mr and Mrs Clarence Chandler Jr welcomed a son born April 24 in Sanderson weighing eight pounds. Elmo Weston recovers from illness at Lockhart hospital. Bobby Stone sprains knee at school. The Women's Civic Club met May 1 at the club house with plans for Fort Stockton parade and weekly skating. Several locals visited San Antonio or hosted guests. A Bridge Club gathering produced high scores for Mrs Neal and Mrs Martin. Wayne Roberts Alabama wedding quip noted. Work has begun on a new home.

Baptist Church Welcomes Rev Croft as New Pastor
The Baptist church voted Rev M H Croft as pastor last Sunday. He will preach next Sunday and discuss church matters with members. Rev Croft is a Southwestern Baptist Seminary graduate with prior pastorates in Fort Worth and Keyes OK. The parsonage should be ready in about ten days.

Tommy Hayden, an 18 year old senior from Abilene High School, won the Geology Club contest at Sul Ross. The prize is a guest spot on the two day spring field trip through the Marathon region Big Bend National Park and Southern Davis Mountains for historical geology students. The trip highlights classic geologic phenomena as part of the course.
