Memorial donations boost Crusade fund in Texas cancer fight

Memorial contributions for cancer victims drive part of the 1950 Texas Cancer Crusade effort led by Gibb Gilchrist. The Texas division notes about 30 memorials monthly, rising during April’s crusade. Local clubs, including Houston’s Advertising Club, sponsor drives in memory of fallen members. Each gift is acknowledged to the donor and a card sent to the family, funding the cancer unit in the donor’s county. Armed Forces Day on May 20 aims to raise defense awareness and public interest in the services.
