Royal Arch Masons in Marfa plan a capitular meeting on Saturday April 29 with about 200 members invited from Alpine Fort Davis Fort Stockton Van Horn Shafter and Presidio. Grand High Priest Joe W. Western Union Prepares for Observatory Opening Dispatches

Western Union plans extensive dispatch coverage for the Mount Locke Mc Donald Observatory opening near Fort Davis. Electa Wade says a half dozen operators and staff will handle thousands of words sent to scientific magazines and papers nationwide and abroad. Extra wires and facilities are being added with the superintendent visiting to oversee the operation. A Fort Davis office will be kept open and special messenger cars will run between Alpine and Fort Davis to relay messages to publications.

Sul Ross Wins Class B Newspaper Award at TIPA Meet

The Sul Ross Skyline earned first place in Class B at the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association meeting in Fort Worth on April 21 22. Five Sul Ross delegates Myril McBride Lola Lee Young Mary Hartman Aleta Bierschwabe Bert Bowles and sponsor Dr E C Coleman attended. The association will meet in San Marcos next year. The program included an address by Truman Pouncey Dallas News, a talk on Recent at Lake Worth by Stanford Engraving, a luncheon at the Fort Worth Club by Star Telegram, and a banquet and midnight matinee.

McDonald Observatory dedication draws global AAAS scientists

Fort Davis prepares for a four day McDonald Observatory dedication starting May 5 with a end gate chuckwagon dinner and rodeo. Visitors from across the United States and abroad are expected for the AAAS meeting and the Alpine event running May 24 to May 28. Children of Eli Bradford found four Dec 1880 and Jan 1881 Le Figaro literary supplements nailed under a wall at an old Fort Davis army building. Dumas pieces Sous La Guillotine and Un Incendie En Mer are signed Alexandre Dumas pere, Balzac contributes Ma dame Dosne, and a potential Twain piece titled Literature Americaine Les Barbiers appears, with other writers listed among the noted names. The papers are unusually white and well preserved, suggesting remarkable aging immunity. An additional note in the Dec 4 issue hints at further content by various Paris authors.

International scientists to attend dedication of McDonald Observatory

The Southwestern division of the American Association for the Advancement of Science holds next week at Sul Ross College and McDonald Observatory. The event centers on Mount Locke dedication at 3 p.m. Friday and an Astronomical Symposium titled Galactic and Extragalactic Structure with five foreign speakers from Mexico, Canada, Holland, England, and Sweden.

W. D. Revival Meeting at Christian Church to Start Next Sunday

A revival will begin at the Christian church Sunday led by Rev. L. W. Bridges of Dalhart, former pastor, with Rev. J. A. Kearns and Mrs. Kearns assisting. The meetings run nightly through Sunday May 14. William Schultz of Fabens, a Sul Ross college student, directs the opening program and the young people lead the communion service.
