Watch Your Driving By Gov Price Daniel Plan Aims To Cut Texas Traffic Deaths
In 1958 Texans are urged to drive more carefully under Gov. Price Daniel’s Texas plan to reduce highway tragedies. The five point program covers safety cooperation, local traffic councils, public education, road improvements, and stricter enforcement especially of drunken driving and speeding. Last year 2539 died and 122000 were injured. 1957 deaths per mile fell to six per 100 million, attributed to slower speeds. The goal for 1958 is to save 254 lives, one per Texas county, urging every Texan to adopt safe driving as a personal duty.
