S P officials announced the Sunset Limited will resume service about April 26 after being discontinued in 1932. The train will arrive at Alpine from the east around 2 p m the eastbound Pound will pass through at about the same time. Definite schedule to be announced. All equipment will be air conditioned throughout. The Argonaut remains in service on this division with a similar schedule.

Alpine School Board Trustee Election Set for April 4
Two trustees for Alpine Independent School District will be chosen at an election on Saturday April 4. C H Kimball seeks re election while W J Strait appears on the ballot. No other candidates have filed to date. Drury Wood was re elected superintendent at a recent trustees meeting.

Many Cars Yet to Be Registered This Registration Rush
Only about half of motor vehicles are registered and drivers licensed as of yesterday morning. Tax office estimated 1645 licenses issued out of about 3000. 500 vehicles registered. Past year by April 1 about 1000 of 305 vehicles were registered. Drivers licenses may be formed and extraprities seized up to next Wednesday. Big rush expected over the weekend. last days likely swamped.
Brewster County Day Proposed at Centennial Park
Park officials and Herbert Maier of the National Parks Service plan Brewster County Day at the Dallas Centennial exposition around July 15. A CCC building will feature park exhibits and Sul Ross College band may attend to showcase Brewster County and the Texas frontier.

Alpine Dominates County Interscholastic Meet at Marathon
Alpine swept multiple events in the county league meet held in Marathon last Friday. Winners include Declamation senior boys and girls, junior and senior essays, track and field, choral singing, and tennis doubles. Other Alpine first places cover arithmetic, memory, spelling, volleyball, and playground ball while Marathon often took seconds. District meet in Stockton runs April 8 to 11 with regional event on April 24 in this area.

John Ebers Dies at Pruett Ranch Near Alpine
J A John Ebers aged 77 or 78 died at Herbert Pruett ranch south of Alpine after staying there while Pruett was away. He was found unconscious on the floor and died before aid could reach him. Born June 7 1867 in Santa Fe New Mexico he later lived in Norway and Kiel Germany, with a long expatriate history. He was buried in Elm Grove cemetery after services Friday.

Three Mexicans Arrested in Marathon Garage Robbery

Plans For County Centennial To Be Held Here Are Discussed At Meeting
Local Centennial plans were debated at a meeting called by Mrs. C A Brown Alpine member of the Centennial Advisory board in the chamber of commerce office Tuesday. Ideas included a daily wild west show and exhibits of pioneer articles in store windows to attract visitors during the period between Baptist and Boys encampments. County Reaches State Route Deal From Marathon to River
The State Highway Commission designated the Marathon to the Chisos Mountains park road as a state highway and will maintain it, contingent on county and city rights of way for a U S 90 re routing through Alpine. The move, possibly 122 miles, could save the county about 7000 annually. The plan includes a bridge over the arroyo and an underpass at the Santa Fe railroad on West Holland avenue, with costs to be shared by state and federal governments.

The committee chose Burke's Food Shop as the name for the new Alpine grocery opened on Fifth Street last week by Meriwether Burke. A $25 cash prize was awarded, split between Rev.
