Brewster County Commissioners Lee Smith and Robert Videz returned to Alpine after inspecting the New Braunfels hospital. They talked with state and federal officials in Austin about the Brewster County project. Accompanying them were Elmer Devenport, the Alpine construction engineer for the architects, and El Paso architects Ralph Davis and Dub Kuykendall. Smith noted the New Braunfels facility is well equipped and predicted the Brewster County hospital would be better organized.
