City Drug Store and Professional Pharmacy Opens in Alpine
The City Drug Store in the Jeter Hill building on North 6th Street is owned by R A Bow and E G Nance. Bow holds a Doctor of Pharmacy from Louisville College of Pharmacy. Nance has a Master of Fine Arts in Pharmacy from the University of Texas. The store features a large prescription department, cosmetics, candies, greeting cards, leather goods, jewelry, magazines, a fountain and luncheonette, and a staff offering personalized service. The shop opened August 25, 1949, with Bow in Alpine since 1929 and Nance joining in 1947. A photography promotion with Big Bend materials and a Peter Koch presentation is planned for March 31 at the Su Rass auditorium.
