Fort Davis reports early fruit such as peaches and apricots damaged by a north wind and a light snow on Sunday night into Monday. Sleet and lingering cold hindered fruit development, with peaches failing to crop for about six years and apples still in doubt as of Wednesday morning.

Warning Issued To Brewster County Car Owners
Brewster county owners of motor vehicles were urged this week to procure their 1941 licenses with only about two weeks left. Only 840 licenses had been issued at the tax collector's office, leaving approximately 700 vehicles unregistered for 1941. The final deadline to secure 1941 plates without penalty is April 1. Licenses issued thus far included 257 passenger cars, 36 farm vehicles, and 47 commercial vehicles.

Announcement from the Texas State Highway Department states that construction on U S Highway 67 from Bunton Flat to Shafter will begin after bids are opened on Tuesday March 25. The project covers grading drainage structures and select materials with plans available at A Buchmaier’s office in Clifton and at the Austin office. Maintenance work on the Presidio Marfa road is expected to start soon after, with concerns the road must be reinforced to handle expected traffic.

A large and appreciative audience heard Trinity University choir at Sul Ross auditorium last Friday night. The group offered a wide repertoire from Bach to Negro spirituals and was praised as one of the best-trained musical organizations heard locally.
