Alpine church to dedicate new annex Sunday
The Christian church in Alpine will dedicate its new two story rock veneered annex at 2 p m Sunday March 21. Local and state church leaders will attend along with Dr R M Hawkins and West Texas representatives. The 1905 founded congregation has expanded with plans for a three year construction program including a refurbished worship auditorium and parsonage. Refreshments will be served in the ladies parlor after the ceremony.

George Watson Davis known as Mr Watt, 78, died suddenly at Bloys camp grounds March 11 after years of work as a cowboy and mail carrier. He married Nel Covington in 1911 and lived near Fort Davis. He served as caretaker at Bloys camp grounds for 11 years and was a long time member of Jeff Davis Lodge 896 A F and A M. Funeral held in the Presbyterian church with Rev Horn presiding.

Alpine Doctor Delivers Baby In Moving Truck
A truck with 14 Mexican travelers headed to Washington state paused on Alpine’s Holland avenue when an expectant mother fell ill. A local physician arrived and delivered the newborn in the vehicle, marking the first known curbside delivery in the town. The mother and baby then continued west with the party.

The body of Pfa John Hill killed in action on New Georgia island July 1 1943 is en route to the States for final burial at Fort Sam Houston San Antonio. Mrs T M Hill the boy's mother was advised this week. Hill was a member of the First Marine Raiders commanded by Col James Roosevelt.
