Sul Ross hosts three college track meet at Jackson Field
Sul Ross State University will host a three team track meet with Wayland Baptist College and Odessa College opening at Jackson Field on March 14. Field events begin at 1 30 p m and running events at 2 30 p m. Eric Hardaway led Lobos scorers at the Border Olympics with strong discus and shot put finishes and is expected to repeat.

Lawsuit Against Fort Davis ISD Dismissed
A $100,000 libel suit filed by Rosie Martinez and her parents against the Fort Davis Independent School District was dismissed in 83rd District Court at the plaintiffs' request. The suit claimed school personnel falsely labeled Rosie with lice and sought damages.

Alpine School Board projects Local Fund rise to 1970 71
Superintendent Clarence Winn announced Alpine will receive about 45000 from the Local Fund Assignment for 1970 71 up from 33915 for the current year. The board accepted the resignation of junior high music teacher Fanniee Stice and hired Almaz Webb. A March 16 meeting will study high school specifications and finalize blueprints. Bills totaling 13536.76 were approved and the 1970 71 calendar was adopted with classes starting August 24 1970 and ending May 26 1971.

Alpine Lions mull shift from Little League to citywide recreation
Alpine Lions Club members vote Tuesday on dropping the organized Little League baseball program in favor of a broader citywide recreation plan. A survey by Sul Ross graduate student shows strong support for a summer program for all ages including swimming tennis softball volleyball basketball dancing skating and track. A recreation director would oversee the program with facilities at Alpine schools Kokernot and Baines Memorial parks and funding estimated above a specific figure. The vote also asks whether Lions Club should lead and actively support the proposed recreation drive.
