Mrs Jack Robie Powell 70 died early Wednesday morning March 4 at Brewster Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. A longtime resident since 1952 she ran an art shop. Funeral at 2 p.m. Saturday March 7 at Geeslin Chapel with burial in Elm Grove Cemetery. Memorials to Brewster Hospital. Her husband ran Powell's Radio and TV Shop.

City to Build Steel Water Tank at Kokernot Park
City Council approved building a 10 foot high 50 foot diameter steel water storage tank at Kokernot Municipal Park to irrigate the park and golf course. Supt. Werner Hollis estimated using used 1/4 inch steel for 1338.89 and on site construction in about three days with four workers. Water will be supplied from the sewage treatment plant and a concrete floor will be included. Welding bids were discussed with Charles Rogers offering a complete tank with bottom and top for 5960.16 and alternatives by other bidders.
