Chrysler tops speed title at Daytona 100 mph record
Tom McCahill of Mechanix Illustrated receives a gold emblem from Bill France for the 1951 stock car record of 100.18 mph set at Daytona Beach in a Chrysler New Yorker with a 180 horsepower FirePower engine. The car, loaned by W. Brewster Shaw Jr., had only 400 miles on it and no special tuning.
