Parish House Open House Draws 400 Visitors
About 400 persons visited the new parish house at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church during open house last Sunday. The reinforced adobe building cost 4.32 per square foot, with 11 rooms three baths and a double garage. Elisio Leyva was foreman. refreshments were provided by Mrs Paz Valenzuela. The old parish house will be torn down and salvaged material used to enlarge the sisters home.

Rev. James G. Brawn father of Mrs. Austin Dillon of Roswell New Mexico died in Albuquerque. He was buried there on Tuesday after frequent visits to Alpine when Rev. Dillon served as pastor of the First Methodist Church.

Alpine hires night patrolman Lewis Owen from Monahans
Alpine City Council approved the hire of Lewis Owen as night patrolman at 300 dollars a month on the recommendation of Chief Jack Johnson. Owen, 32, a former Monahans police captain, is married with two children. The council also considered water and sewer borings under the Southern Pacific tracks and approved about 740 dollars for fittings and valves.

Maples Receives Two Year DWI Sentence
Tom Maples of Fort Stockton pleaded guilty in district court to driving while intoxicated and was sentenced to two years in the penitentiary by Judge C. E. Patterson. He drove the vehicle that struck a sedan carrying Mr. and Mrs. Don Littleton on U S Highway 90 west of Alpine on June 9 1960, leaving the couple seriously injured.
