Several new patient librarians join the Sul Ross Library for the summer term. Eva Jo Miller of San Angelo leads the Children’s Literature Room, John Fletcher heads the Texana Room, Bud Osborne oversees magazines and periodicals. Betty Vogt assists at the circulation desk. Marathon News From the Hovey Area and Town Highlights
In Marathon and surrounding ranches the green season returns after drought with cattle feeding well on Breeen grass. Local figures J W Stone and Helen Stone visit from their Hovey ranch as townsfolk report improving rains and growing grass. The Dece ranch west of Marathon and Catto Gage country near Marathon show lush pastures, while Hess Ranch north of town reports the best years in years. Marathon’s modernizing streets and new highway attract tourists and trucks. Fourth of July dances and barbecues at the Post charge a dollar per plate. Visitors include D W Collins heading to Colombia and Mrs. Monroe Dunn of Lubbock. Gene Benson recovers well from surgery at Reeves County Hospital. several locals from El Paso to San Angelo are in town. Gussie Brown is back home.
