Methodist To Offer Funds For Chile Aid

Alpine Methodists plan a special Sunday offering to aid earthquake stricken Chile. Bishop W Angie Smith urged local churches in Oklahoma and New Mexico to conduct emergency appeals for Chileans. In other notes a drilling project near Mitre Peak advances to 800 feet with a 3500 foot target. Crew changes include Ed Vornsand as acting crew chief and several married and single members listed.

City Ends Water Service For Unpaid Bills By 20th

Alpine imposes ordinance number 364 effective today to cut water service if bills remain unpaid by the 20th of each month. A $5 deposit is required with written service applications. deposits may be used to cover delinquent charges. All rents and charges are due on the 1st. nonpayment by the 20th triggers disconnection after ensuring all delinquent accounts and deposits are secured.

A rash of weekend accidents near Alpine and Fort Davis injures multiple people. Thomas Edward Thornton suffers no serious injuries when a drag line overturns 18 miles west of Alpine. Fireworks Display Planned by Big Bend Post 79 Legion
