Rain Reports and Dry Times Hit Lone Ranches
Monday night brought scattered rain across the region with the Kate Roberts ranch southwest of Marathon reporting 11 inches. Alpine saw 0.28 in while Brown Ranch south of Alpine measured over 1 inch. Casner ranch NE of town 0.2 in. This was Alpine’s first moisture since March 12, year to date 2.4 in, far shy of last year’s 34.1 in. Ranchers fear dry forage, windmill failures, and cattle ailments as they shift pastures and repair systems.
