Miniature Course and Driving Range to Open June 17
Big Ben(d) Businesses plans a June 17 opening for a new 18 hole miniature golf course on West Highway 90 east of Antelope Lodge and a 13 acre driving range to the north adjacent to the Coca Cola plant. The site features quartz lighting, concrete fairways, a 20 by 30 foot dancing floor, vending, rest rooms, a rotating museum, and a 300 yard range with 12 players max at a time. Parking for 50 cars, rental clubs, and ample facilities are included.
District Praised for New Program and Plan Approval
The Big Bend Soil and Water Conservation District received a commendation letter from Agriculture Secretary Orville Freeman after presenting the district’s new Program and Plan and a revised Memorandum of Understanding with the USDA. Special guest Thomas G. Rockenbaugh displayed the signed documents while D A Williams observes.

Registration for the 1967 Alpine Head Start program will be held Tuesday June 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Central Elementary School to enroll 60 first grade beginners from deprived homes as identified by the Office of Economic Opportunity. If unavailable parents may register at 115 N Fifth Street admin offices 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The summer session runs June 12 through August 4 with teachers Mrs LaFerne Scudday Mrs Diane Stillwell Lelette Surratt and Mrs Jenny Ebensberger nursing staff included.

Hitzges Named Sul Ross Information Chief
Norman R. Hitzges, candidate for a master’s at the University of Texas, will become director of college information and journalism instructor at Sul Ross State College effective Sept. 1.
