Members of the Marfa Unit of the U S Army Reserve assisted in filming a large funeral sequence for a Warner Bros production near Valentine. Soldiers Raul Cruz Gabriel Campos Manuel Garcia Ruben Vasquez and others acted in the scene on July 6 with veterans urged to keep part in the movie.

Alpine Postal Receipts Fall Four Percent in 1904-09
Receipts at the Alpine post office for the fiscal year ending June 30 declined about four percent from the prior year. The total for 1904-09 was $44 20137 compared with $46,145.30 last year. Officials attribute most of the drop to a recent postal limit affecting parcel post packages and weight in all classes.
