Alpine Hosts Midland Braves in Big Wednesday Night Show

One of the finest crowds of the year is expected at Kobernot Field Wednesday night July 23 when the Alpine Cowboys meet the league leading Midland Braves of the Sophomore League. Game time will be 8 p.m. The Braves, a professional team, are composed of young prospects and alumni from Milwaukee and Boston.

Braves face Cowboys with Cloninger likely starter

Antelope Count Plane Crashes Near Mount Locke

A small plane piloted by J. O. Casparis and biologist Bob Carlisle crashed into juniper and pinion on Mount Locke about three miles from the McDonald Observatory. The veteran pilot had minor scratches while Carlisle suffered a sprained back and was hospitalized in Brewster County Memorial Hospital. They were counting antelope for a game survey when the engine quit. Carlisle and Casparis were brought to Alpine by a Mexican ranchman.

Four Nurses Join Brewster County Memorial Hospital

Four registered nurses have joined the staff of Brewster County Memorial Hospital. Miss Lavonne Nulisch of Corsicana, Miss Caroline Havelka of Robstown, Miss Elizabeth Jane Roemer of Floresville, and Miss Jenny Ruth Bechthold of Alice join. Nulisch is a Methodist School of Nursing graduate in Dallas. Havelka, Roemer, and Bechthold are graduates of Dougherty School of Nursing in Corpus Christi.

Twin Peaks to Show The Ten Commandments at Alpine Drive-In

Twin Peaks Drive-In Theater in Alpine will screen Cecil B. DeMille's The Ten Commandments for 14 nights from July 23 to August 5. Owner Joe Davidson announced the selection as part of a Mount Sinai and Red Sea filming legacy, with one 8:15 p.m. showing nightly and a 10:15 p.m. intermission.
