Tippit Ranch Home Destroyed By Fire In West Texas
The eight room Tippit ranch house fifteen miles north of Alpine was burned to the ground last Saturday night. The blaze origin undetermined. Affected furniture belonged to Mrs. Tippit and J. C. Weston. A nearby orchard and lant pecan trees were damaged. The ranch, owned by Mrs. A. J. Tippit, is leased to Worth Ey. The home had long been a Tipit family residence and is now vacant.

Brewster Ranchman H M Wilson Dies of Heart Attack
H M Wilson prominent Brewster ranchman died Tuesday night at his ranch home in Brewster after a heart ailment. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church with Rev Ray McGrew officiating. The body was taken to Del Rio by Livingston Funeral Home for burial as details appear in The Avalanche next week.

Bedford Peyton Cain former Alpine Junior High principal received a commission as 2nd Lieutenant in the Coast Artillery after completing the officer candidate course at Camp Davis North Carolina. He will begin new duties after a furlough and is a 1921 Comanche High School graduate and Sul Ross College alum. As junior high principal he also coached champion football teams for several years and volunteered for service last fall with basic training at Camp Wallace near Galveston.

Escaped Prisoners From Airbase Guardhouse Recaptured Near Field
Two inmates escaped the airbase guardhouse Monday and were recaptured later that day near Alpine Mountain road six miles north of the Alpine Marta highway one mile east of the field. Flying school officials praised cooperation from border patrol sheriff s offices state highway patrol and other agencies. The Oklahoma prisoner lived briefly at Mitre Peak guest ranch and was brought to flying school authorities after ranch operator Mrs Mauldin suspected him due to lack of credentials. Planes from the school aided the search.
