Sul Ross Names New Deans as Reed Heads to Minnesota
Dr Bevington Reed will leave Sul Ross State College to become academic dean at Mankato State College Minnesota effective September 1 1961. Delbert A Dyke head of Industrial Education and registrar is named to succeed Reed as Sul Ross College dean. Reed joined Sul Ross in 1953 and has served as dean of the college and graduate division. Dyke has taught in several states and led Pakistan Education Programs sponsored by the Ford Foundation.

Rex Ashlock, 26, died at 5:17 a.m. Monday, July 10, in a hospital in Albany, Missouri. He had worked for the Texas Highway Department in Alpine for years, and moved there from Albany in 1954. Funeral services were held in Albany with burial there. Survived by widow Sue and two children Clayton and Ginger Lou, his mother Martha Wiley of Alpine, and his father Morris Ashlock of Albany.

Mrs. W. A. Kerr, 82, pioneer Marfa resident, died Sunday afternoon while visiting her daughter in Alpine. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Kelly Funeral Home in Marfa with Rev. Guy Birdwell officiating. Burial followed in Marfa Cemetery. Survivors include daughters Mrs. S. A. Matlock of Alpine and two Marfa residents, two sons, and 12 grandchildren plus great grandchildren.
