Big Bend National Park welcomed 10 466 visitors in June 1961 up from 6 543 in June 1960. Year to date 1961 travel nears 1960's first six months, showing a rising visitation trend aided by favorable weather and vibrant scenery. Increased use seen at campgrounds picnic areas cottages and saddle horses as rainfall keeps vegetation lush.

Stolen Mercury Recovered by Patrolman Williams
State Patrolman Carl Williams found a stolen 1957 Mercury on U S Highway 90 east of Alpine Monday. Galveston authorities charged two men and returned them to the coast city yesterday after the owner learned of the theft. Williams stopped the driver about 4 55 p m.

Two One Act Comedies to Be Staged at Sul Ross
Two modern one act plays are set for Sul Ross July 6 and 7. The Lesson by Eugene and The Sandbox by Edward Albee will be performed. The Lesson debuted in Paris February 20, 1951. The Sandbox opened in New York May 16, 1960. Admission is by student activity card or 75 cents and 35 cents.

President Bryan Wildenthal announced a $500,000 Housing and Home Finance Agency loan to construct a 100 bed girls dormitory and expand the college dining hall at Sul Ross. Architect B R Cantrell in Alpine outlined plans, with construction aimed by late 1962 and completion within 9 to 11 months after start. Miss Laurene Lighthouse noted eight vacancies in current dorms, making emergency housing for fall necessary.
