Mrs James A Holt Dies at Fort Davis After Long Illness
Mrs James A Holt aged 88 and a Fort Davis resident since 1912 died after a long illness at her daughter's home Miss Callie Holt. Born Martha Jane Powell in Missouri on January 12 1883 she married James A Holt in 1876 and moved from Missouri to Texas via Fulton Victoria and Waco before Fort Davis. Surviving children include Rev Judd B Holt Miss Callie Holt and Mrs R W Leazer with several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services were set for Thursday at the Fort Davis Baptist Church with Rev Edward Townsend presiding and other clergy assisting.

Drilling Halted at City Water Well in Southeast Town
Drilling is temporarily suspended at the city water well in the southeast part of town as driller Tony Hess has left for a CCC camp in the Chisos mountains to complete another well. Officials expect drilling to resume within a few days after reaching a reported depth of 1470 feet.
