Four Jeff Davis County burglars sentenced in Valentine court

In Jeff Davis County district court last week, Bob O Conner drew attention as jurors debated a sentence while two girls watched from the gallery. Four men— Hop kins, Kyne, Tyler, and others— were found guilty of various burglaries or thefts and given prison terms of two to three years, with some sentences suspended. The trial drew onlookers as the community discussed the outcomes of the cases and a separate play’s success credited to local organizers.

Juvenile Music Club in Fort Davis presents New Year program

The Juvenile Muse Club of Fort Davis led by Miss Lena Terrill hosted a noon New Year program at Mrs. J. P. Weatherby’s home last Saturday. The event featured piano solos, readings, duets, and vocal numbers, drawing congratulations for performers and Miss Terrill.

District School play delights Fort Davis audience

The Fort Davis Study Club sponsored a district school play at the schoolhouse last Friday night. The judge performed with professional ease and the cast, including Mee Woodames, Mrs Le rout, Mrs Wy Davis, Mrs Carnon, Mr Hicks Gray, and many others, drew a wide audience. Two Xprewson pupils Miss Ellen Yarbro and Miss Lady Ponthes joined the ensemble, with Miss Lena Ter PAL accompanying them for sketches. The show closed to enthusiastic applause as Mr Burke delivered an encore and the crowd praised the singing by Mrs Roe Milter and Mrs Pride.

Bridge party at Prude ranch hosts guests from Alpine

Mrs Andrew Prude and Afra John tosses entertained guests after a bridge game Tuesday at Prude ranch. Attendees included Mr. Grange, Miss Katherine Mesdames Mean McCutcheon, Frank Jones, Lee proul, J. M. Jones, Roe Miller, 8. W. Leverett, and Barry Scobee. Refreshments followed with fruit salad, sandwiches, toasted pecan halves, cake and coffee.
