About 8000 head of cattle have been sold in the Alpine area since January, mostly to California and northern feed lots. The largest sale reported was 5500 head of steer calves by the Gage Estate to California feed lots, with some shipments from Marathon Alpine and Marfa. Other notable sales include 800 head of steer and heifer calves and 600 cows by Wells McIntyre to Peyton Packing in El Paso, plus 500 steer calves by H J Kokernot Son to the corn belt, and additional loads by H B Pruett C P Cox and S L Stone.

Real Old Fashioned Runaway Staged in Alpine
In Alpine on Tuesday a real old fashioned runaway drew curious crowds as a wagon and team hauling material from Southern Pacific tracks to a bridge site on West College avenue frightened a mule team. The wagon escaped damage after crossing Holland avenue and was halted near the post office corner by a worker who leaped aboard.
