Texans End Government Aid and Take Ownership of PCAs
The 36 Texas Production Credit Associations paid off the remaining government capital and become wholly farmer owned. From 1933 to last July 1 they lent $444,434,623 with losses and reserves under five cents per $100. They aim to maintain a 25 percent capital to loan ratio and are the first of twelve districts to be fully farmer owned. This move counters subsidy claims and showcases independence.
