Burns Fatal To Alpine Woman
Miss Salona Cook known as Miss Lona died at Alpine hospital after a gas explosion at her North Alpine home. She struck a match in a gas filled room after a stove had been disconnected and later turned back on by her nephew who was unaware the apartment was vacated. Born January 18 1876 in Uvalde she had lived in Alpine since 1921 with her mother Mrs B F Cook who died in 1940. A longtime nurse, she was praised by Pastor James A Fry for her Christian character and service to others.

Obituary of Alpine resident J F Miles passes away
J F Miles, longtime Alpine resident for nearly 40 years, died at his West Alpine home Wednesday night after a monthlong illness. Born October 13, 1871 in Tinoss, he came to Alpine in 1905, worked as a grocer and salesman, owned a Sunny Glen ranch, and later lived in town with his wife Cora Miles. Surviving: widow. sons Francis, Joe, and James. daughter Mrs Bill Williams. brothers Felix Owensboro Ky J Fred Louisville Ky Will Tulsa Okla Ed Tulsa Okla John B Alpine. Funeral at 10:30 this morning at the home. Rev Francis Juanis to officiate. Interment Elm Grove Cemetery. Livingston Funeral Home in charge.
