A local business thanks residents of Alpine and Brewster County for patronage and notes sales growth in 1902. The firm pledges to lift quality without raising prices in 1903, aiming to improve all product lines including canned goods and dried fruit. It invites customers to visit.
A well attended Alpine meeting at the courthouse formed a committee to host Orient Railroad officials led by Chief Engineer M P Paret and Right of Way Agent R L McCaulley. They discussed bringing the Orient line to Alpine and urged swift local backing and financial subscriptions to secure the trunk line. Mercers Paret and McCaulley left for Presidio and Mexico, planning to return with a definite Alpine decision next week.

Theo H. Banks of San Antonio reports promising gold bearing ore in the Fort Davis area Texas. He assayed specimens showing free gold in most samples and plans to push toward Livermore Peak to secure richer loads subject to weather and land surveys.
