Old-Time Cowboys Invited To Alpine
Sloan Matthews of Alpine presided over a meeting of Brewster county cowhands Saturday night to launch plans for an Alpine summer gathering of the International Cowboys Association. Mrs Florence Finley of Uvalde acted as wagon boss and will help coordinate a range celebration drawing 5,000 members from the cow country in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The group aims to preserve rangeland history and old-time customs. About 50 people attended, including Miss Mona Gay of El Paso and Mrs Finley’s daughter Wilson.
