Brewster County ranch hand Manuel Espinoza died Monday in Brewster Memorial Hospital of a heart attack. Funeral services were held at Our Lady of Peace Church. Espinoza, born in Ojinaga Mexico on June 15 1878 spent most of his life in Alpine and surroundings working as a ranch hand and cook. He is survived by a widow eight sons four grandchildren and one great grandchild with pallbearers named Raul Valdez Joe Sanchez Alfonso Sanchez Carlos Ramos Henry De La O and Lewis Rodriguez Jr.

Woman Killed in Car Crash Near Marfa on U S 90
Mrs Novella Hodge Gaffney 46 of Los Angeles died when a car overturned on a curve four miles east of Marfa on December 23. Four others were injured including Adeline Hodge Wooten 47 Helen M Gage Hemphill 49 and two children Kenny James and Jim James. Injured were taken to Brewster County Memorial Hospital Alpine. The group was traveling from Los Angeles to Kingsville for holiday heat. Authorities cited a tire blowout as the cause. Also noted are local visitors and students in the area during the holidays.
