Funeral services were held Saturday at the Christian church for John A. Weyerts 77 a pioneer Alpine resident who died last Thursday of pneumonia after a brief illness A German born immigrant he lived in Alpine most of his life with a varied career in lumber ranching blacksmithing windmill work and carpentry He was active in I O F Encampment Knights of Pythias Sons of Herman and West Texas Historical Society and helped organize a home congregation when no church existed in the 1890s He married Emma Poehler in 1888 and the couple celebrated their 56th anniversary this year

Pioneer Real Man Found Dead in Alpine Home
Otis Turner a Hancock Hall resident and real estate and insurance man, was found dead in his bed with a .28 caliber pistol in his hand on North Sixth Street. Coroner ruled suicide after months of ill health. Turner, born in Kentucky, had lived in Alpine since 1908 after stints in Bisbee and El Paso. Two Cadets Escape Injury In Alpine Plane Crash
Two cadets from the pilot school escaped injury when their plane crashed during landing at Starns Field Alpine. The aircraft sliced across a lane two barbed wire fences crossed the Alpine Fort Davis highway and Santa Fe right of way, sheared a telephone pole, then stopped across the railroad track. Extent of damage was not announced.

Fatal Collision Near West Main Avenue Involving Three
On West Main Avenue last Sunday a two car crash injured three people. G L Pat O Briant 26 died later after the collision involving Justices car and another eastbound auto. Mrs Justice suffered a broken arm and shock. her condition improving. O Briant, salesman for Dunnegan Sales Co Odessa, remained unconscious at press time. Funeral services for Mr Justice were held Tuesday.

Funeral services for 82 year old W B Justice, who died from injuries in a car crash, were conducted at 11 o'clock with Elder A H Brown officiating. A native of Alabama, Justice lived in Hunt County Texas before moving to Alpine in 1916, survived by his widow Ella McCarty, a brother A S Justice, two sisters and a granddaughter Helen Justice. Interment followed in Elm Grove Cemetery. pallbearers included Raymond Garnett and P D Coulson.
