$50,000 Road Bond Approved in Pecos County

Fort Stockton and three other Pecos County polling sites reported 224 to 26 in favor of a $50,000 road bond to repair roads damaged by Pecos River floods and heavy oil field traffic. Four boxes reported. several others remain unaccounted with 50 to 78 votes.

Historic Gap On New Road Route

Fort Davis notes a new road segment on the Davis Mountains State Parks highway with 38 miles of the 75 mile loop in use. Christmas Music At Alpine Churches Week Ahead

Alpine churches present Christmas music this week with two programs already held last Sunday. Presbyterians morning and Christian church evening drew strong crowds. Sunday night features Methodist and Baptist programs with 7 and 8 pm starts respectively. Methodist lineup includes solos, duets, and choir numbers ending with a Holton cantata. Baptist program under Mrs. Jack Davis directs a full cantata with multiple solos and choral sections concluding in a benediction.

Alpine Bucks Win Title at Rankin Meet

The Alpine High Bucks capped a quick turn at the Rankin High School invitation tournament by defeating Reagan County Owls 28 21, McCamey 41 6, and Kermit 29 21 before beating Rankin 36 25 in the finals. Avalanche to Publish Early for Christmas Week

Next week’s Avalanche will come out Wednesday December 26 to observe the holiday weekend. The paper will be printed and mailed late Wednesday instead of Friday morning, with local subscribers receiving copies on Christmas morning at the post office. Local correspondents and club reporters must submit by Tuesday afternoon.
