Mask and Slipper Club Stages What a Life at Flying School
The Mask and Slipper drama group of Sul Ross college presented Clifford Goldsmiths three act comedy What A Life in a history making post theater production. War touched the show as cadets officers and enlisted men filled the seatless house. C F Jones of Eldorado Texas played Henry Aldrich and prepared to leave for Fort Bliss as an inductee while Biloice took Belloyces role after being called to the Air corps. Annie Kate Ferguson and Lucy Hudson adapted and filled roles on short notice. The troupe traveled by Api epeeress hall to Alpine and returned in a truck.

Sul Ross Ex Is Awarded Medal for bravery in combat
First Lieutenant Eugene Ellis, a Sul Ross alumnus, was awarded the Air Medal in London on December 1 for conspicuous bravery during a combat mission over Axis territory. He reportedly shot down two Focke Wulf 190s, aided a crippled bomber, and earned the decoration from Major General Ira C. Baker at a Flying Fortress station in Britain.

Flying School Holiday Observed on Christmas Day at Marfa
Christmas Day will be observed as a holiday at the Marfa Flying school. All personnel except those on guard, kitchen police, and certain other duties will be off. New Year’s Day will not be a holiday. A medium bomber carries 804 pounds of rubber in it.

John L Sublett an Alpine resident and Army flying school instructor flew home in a training plane with Pvt Alwyn Chitwood. They stopped at San Angelo and Traan to visit his wife’s parents, then continued to Alpine before returning to Enid. He is the first Alpine boy in the air forces to visit home by flying his own plane.
