U S 67 highway drainage work slated for January bids
County Judge R B Slight reported to D K Martin of the Texas Highway Commission that contracts for permanent drainage structures on about 50 miles of U S 67 from U S 90 east of Alpine to Fort Stockton will be awarded January 4. Total funding of 279000 includes 175000 for Brewster County and 104000 for Pecos County as grading is complete and traffic runs on temporary structures.

Excavation Nears Finish on West Edge Underpass Project

Fort Davis obituary notes the death of Mrs J Chadborn on December 3 after years of illness. Frances Aurelia Bogan was born November 14 1854 in Monte Alabama and moved to Texas at sixteen. She married Joseph R Chadborn in 1875 and was the first living charter member of the Fort Davis Baptist church. Survived by two daughters Mrs Weatherby and Mrs P P Evans and two sons J R Chadborn and W R Chadborn plus eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Drilling On Hill St Disturbs City Water Mains
City crews drilling a new water well near the South Hill reservoir reached 285 feet this week. A 178 foot depth by a vein stirred up muddy water, causing cloudiness in the city supply for several days. Casing will be set to block the flow and mains should clear soon, says City Secretary M. H. Drilling to Resume at G Hi Storey Test South of Alpine
Preparations are under way to resume the Wilson ranch test in Green Valley about 50 miles south of Alpine. The well, halted at roughly 1875 feet several months ago, showed gas around 1870 feet. Geologists favor a depth under 2500 feet for oil, noting a 1920 test nearby yielded oil at 1860 feet before abandonment.
