16 Churches Send Delegates to Meet

The sale of the Jim P. Wilson ranch near Alpine, about 5000 acres, to John F. Lane was reported this week. Work Restarts On Dodson Means Test Northeast Of Alpine
Drilling resumes 18 miles northeast of Alpine after a several day shutdown due to a stuck packer. Drillers hope to dislodge the obstruction and continue this week at the Dodson location with red casings to bottom of hole around 510 feet. Fort Davis notes the death of pioneer cattleman Robert Sproul, born April 29, 1855, son of Selma’s first postmaster. He ranched in Uvalde County and guided cattle across Texas from Pine to Frazer Canyon, enduring a severe snowstorm. He married Arabella Hi laughter in March 1883.

Cougar killed on Haley ranch near town
A young cougar was killed Monday on the Haley ranch by Bruce Duncan, the top cat hunter in the area. It was the second cougar killed there in three weeks, measuring just over six feet tip to tip. Duncan also killed a bobcat this week in the same country.
