50 000 Estimated Income Blanks Mailed To Texas Taxpayers

Austin Aug 21 Frank Scofield Collector of Internal Revenue announced 850000 copies of the Declaration of Estimated Income for the Year 1943 mailed to taxpayers in the First Texas district. About 300000 taxpayers may be required to file by September 15 and pay at least half the balance of 1943 tax. Scofield urged readers to read instruction sheets to avoid penalties. He noted withholding does not automatically keep all taxpayers current for 1943 incomes. Individuals over certain income thresholds and those with outside incomes must file. Employers should provide preliminary withholding details to help employees compute totals. Cooperation from employers is encouraged as filing is required for a subset of taxpayers.
