Alpine Bucks Open Season as Class AA Leaders Preview

Alpine Public Schools plan a Sept 1 opening and a Friday Aug 28 scrimmage against Rankin Red Devils to showcase Alpine Fightin Bucks as the top Class AA team. Buck Boosters To Meet Monday For Football Season

Alpine flood control study cleared for final approval

Congress poised to approve a $15,000 Alpine flood control study by the Corps of Engineers as part of a public works package. The project authorized in 1959 would total $95,000, with funding previously unavailable, and now goes to a joint Senate House committee after gains in the Senate.

Alpine TV Cable Tax Totals Reported Franchi se Revenue

Alpine City Council heard an audit showing Alpine TV Cable Inc. paid 1331.80 as franchise tax for the year ending June 30. The firm reported $66,589.77 in cable receipts inside the city and $70,225.77 gross from all subscribers for the 12 months.

Mrs Dirks Hosts Phillips Family From Minneapolis

Mrs. Judith Dirks welcomes her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Phillips and their three sons Bruce Frick and Joe from Minneapolis. Mr. Phillips serves as personnel manager for the Pillsbury Co. industrial division. They plan to stay until Sept. 2.

Dove Season Opens September in Big Bend Area

Mourning dove season begins Wednesday September 1 in the Big Bend and Davis Mountains country with hunting from noon to sunset through October 30. Bag limit 12 per day, 24 in possession after day one. whitewing doves open September 4 5 11 12 with a 10 per day limit and 20 in possession. Hunting on public roads is illegal. a fully feathered wing must be kept during transport.
