Harvard College radio observatory equipment reaches Fort Davis site
Equipment for the Harvard College radio observatory arrived at Alpine Santa Fe station and was trucked to Cook Flat seven miles northwest of Fort Davis. Dr. Allen Maxwell supervised unloading with a 28-foot antenna now installed at the Fort Davis site. Elmer Devenport and Ralph Peters designed the pier and 24 to 30 foot housing for the telescope. Cook Flat was chosen for its radio quiet terrain shielding from TV interference.
