Alpine Garment Factory officials announce next week will start production of a new type of children's play clothes. Since opening a few months ago 1840 dozen boxer shorts have been made and a skeleton staff is finishing the new line. Peak production employs 33 persons as a training program continues and plans to steadily grow the workforce. The boxer shorts produced so far are of good quality and well received in markets.

Alpine Youths Charged In Early Morning Incident
An 11 year old Alpine boy was charged with a reported incident and an 18 year old with attempted reported incident in connection with incidents involving a 13 year old and a 14 year old girl. Sheriff Jim Skinner arrested the two youths Monday. they were released on bond and bound over to the grand jury.

Crawford T. Mitchell of Marfa was elected to his 17th consecutive year as president of the Paisano Baptist Encampment Assn at the camp’s 36th annual meeting which ended Sunday. Attendance reached about 1500 with total offerings near 17500 dollars. New officers include Don Littleton Alpine and Rev Jim Levell San Angelo as vice presidents and registrars, with numerous others elected or re-elected to three year terms and including Dr Clyde Childress San Antonio Dr Wootton Roy Akers and W T Witten among directors. An engraved watch was presented to Dr Perry Webb San Antonio and to Dr Thorn of Wichita Kansas and to Dr W M Turner Perryton.

Weston Seeks Shrine Ring Honor From Alpine Contest
Billie Weston of Alpine and operator of Weston's Gulf Service Center will seek a Shrine ring nomination in the ceremonial to be held Saturday. Weston, nicknamed Wild Bill, campaigns on a tough image with managers Joe Clark, Keith Morrow, Jimmy Pate, Carl Rusk and Charley Stringfellow. He appeared on a Midland TV station with a ring candidate from Monahans and traveled to Midland with his campaign team Pate, Morrow, Clark, Rusk and Stringfellow.

Firecrackers Cause Disruption At Outdoor Play
Two teenage boys disrupted a Kokernot Lodge outdoor production of Midsummer Night Dream by driving along a closed road and firing firecrackers. They then set off a firecracker tied to a dynamite fuse, starting a small grass fire. spectators helped extinguish it. City ordinance bans firing firecrackers and parents can be held liable.
