Big Bend park reports sharp visitor gains in 1963
A record 66,868 people have visited Big Bend this year, up from 53,122 through July 1962, per Supt. Stanley Joseph. July 1963 saw a 33 percent rise with 13,478 visitors versus 10,127 in July last year, while year to date camp grounds up 69 percent and cottages and horseback use up small margins.

Juan Espinoza died Sunday at Brewster County Memorial Hospital after living in Lovington New Mexico. Services were held Tuesday at Our Lady of Peace Church with burial in Alpine under Leeslin Funeral Home. Survived by wife Manuela five daughters six sons many relatives in Alpine California and New Mexico. Pallbearers named from Alpine and Marfa.

Word arrived of the death Saturday of Rev. Maurice M. Fulmer 61 retired minister of the Uvalde First Baptist Church He had previously pastored Alpine and retired in 1954. Funeral services were held Monday in Uvalde with burial there.
