Alpine welcomes Bet ty and Royal Fisler on Roadrunner Mobile Park opening
After months of planning Bet ty and Royal Fisler unveil Roadrunner Mobile Park near Alpine on U S Highway 90 two and a half miles west of Alpine. An open house is set for April 24 and 25 from 2 to 6 p m with both new residents active in local groups and church. The Fislers aim to offer premier trailer park facilities and have engaged in community life since moving to Alpine.

Teenagers under 19 with Texas licenses can enter. written exams Thursday night at 7 90 at the First National Bank Community room. The driving test follows Saturday at the high school parking lot with the winner advancing to the state finals in Fort Worth.

Alpine Cemetery Fundraiser Barbecue Promotes New Entrance
The Alpine Cemetery Association hosts an annual barbecue at Meilan Legion Club with serving from 1:30 p.m. Tickets cost 1.25 for adults and 0.50 for children. Proceeds support cemetery entrance completion and overall projects. Expansion of the south addition will soon begin. Rogers Welding Service won Brewster County bids for two cattle guards on the Black Gap Road at 4 975 dollars. Alpine Iron Works bid 3 152 dollars.

Big Bend National Park Easter Holiday Visitors Soar
Big Bend National Park saw a 45 percent rise in visitors in the first three months of the year. A four day Easter holiday brought a record 9 575 entrants, overflow camping, back country sites, and 1 764 concession guests. Fishing, boating, horseback tours, and interpretive programs drew large crowds as 30 states and 10 foreign countries were represented among 3 118 at Park headquarters.

Beulah Burnham Van Deman 82 longtime Big Bend resident died Friday in Brewster County Memorial Hospital after long illness. Funeral Saturday at First Methodist Marathon burial Marathon Cemetery. Born January 31 1883 daughter of Burns pioneers. Survivors include four nieces from San Antonio and Hope New Mexico. Pallbearers listed from Marathon Alpine Fort Stockton and surrounding areas.
