Alpine High School captured its 19th straight district University Interscholastic League contest in a dominant literary meet performance.

Lobos Head For Arizona on Spring Swing

Sul Ross set for a 1200 mile trek west with a 13-4 season mark. They open in El Paso against Texas Western with games Friday and Saturday, then at Arizona State in Tempe Monday and Tuesday, and end with two in Tucson against Arizona two more against Sam Houston. Night baseball drew 2,400 fans Friday and Saturday as Sul Ross won 1-0 and 5-4 and 7-6 in three one run decisions. Tom Cunningham improved to 4-1 with the 1-0 opener, Richardson scored the tying run in the seventh in the nightcap, and Langley closed out victories with key hits from Rockey Compton and Sears.

Easter Services Planned by Alpine Ministerial Alliance

Good Friday services at First Presbyterian Church 7 30 p m April 16 with Bruce Felker of Sul Ross directing. Easter Sunrise Service 7 a m April 18 at Kokernot Field with Rev. Farl Dunn of First Baptist preaching. Holy Week events include Thursday services at St James Alpine 8 p m with communion and 12 10 p m devotions. Revival at Alpine First Methodist 7 30 p m Sunday through Thursday led by Dr. Austin Dillon. Morning devotions 7 a m Monday to Thursday with light breakfasts. Nurseries for Alpine students, Sul Ross break starts today with classes resuming April 20. Some students plan to visit families. college and public school calendars noted.

Cub Scouts Meet and Plan Pack Event

Cub Scouts of Den 6 met at Mrs. Fords house on April 12 1965 to rehearse for the April pack meeting at the Methodist Church. They had refreshments at Mrs Halperns and a weiner roast at Mrs Fords home with attendees including Dan Roach Mark Kay Soney Bougeault Mike Rice Billy Ford Darryl Brock Tommy Burling John Davis and Robert Halpern. Alpine School Board accepted the resignation of Mrs Fern P Young effective May 27 1965 retiring from teaching. Mr and Mrs Jack Cross visited Dallas and toured shows and flower displays with relatives.

Fort Stockton Firm Wins Fort Davis Barracks Restorations

Shugart Construction Co of Fort Stockton awarded contracts for restoration of old barracks at Fort Davis Historic Site and for three new residences. Low bids: exterior restoration 42500 and three residences 50700. Other bidders included Guldemann Construction El Paso Williamson Construction Pecos O W Sweatman. Work to start soon and finish within 200 calendar days.

Sul Ross honors Roxie Hall with Omega Scholarship gift

Dr Richard Hall of Groom Texas endows Aly ssi Omega Scholarship in memory of his wife Rex Keever Hall a Sul Ross graduate. The fund supports drama and speech students and will be awarded at the May awards assembly in Main Auditorium. Sandy Drumm leads the Alpha Phi Omega chapter.
