Sul Ross Lobos Set Facing Eastern New Mexico in Twin Bill

Sul Ross State University Lobos host Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds at Kobernot Field for two 2 p.m. games on Friday and Saturday April 18 and 19. The Lobos stand 10-4 after recent wins and losses, led by pitcher Bob Dickson with 3-0 and Gary Cox 2-0 records. O'Day tops with 25 hits and .472, while McCarson leads with 3 homers and 14 RBIs as coach McChesney adjusts infield after injuries.

Sul Ross College Plans New Science Building in April

Sul Ross College will let a contract in April for a three story Science Building of 46 000 square feet between the Fine Arts Building and Ferguson Hall dormitory. The project aims to accommodate growing enrollment with fully equipped labs and classrooms for biology geology chemistry physics and other sciences.

D. M. Bennett former owner and publisher of The Avalanche was named manager of the Alpine Chamber of Commerce effective May 1. He will serve until September while Tom Rawlins resigns to finish a biology degree at Sul Ross State College. Bennett has deep roots in Alpine journalism and local civic groups.

Clean-Up May Month Campaign In Alpine Texas

Alpine residents join a Clean-Up Paint-Up Fix-Up drive sponsored by Alpine Garden Club El Progreso the Chamber of Commerce and the City. Hale-Aiken Committee Meeting Ends Year at Marathon High

The Hale-Aiken Committee of Brewster County meets at 7 30 tonight in Marathon High School to approve final sub committee reports. Jim Glasscock says the final report will be mailed to the state committee in Austin this weekend. The 10 year state school program will depend on Texas county reports.

Scouts Plan Road Day at Marfa Alpine Airport

Big Bend District scouts from Cubs to Explorers join Road Day on May 3 starting at 2 p.m. at Marfa Alpine Airport. Contests cover three age groups with driving tests for eligible boys.
