Canadian officials released Harry K. Thaw at Coaticook Quebec on a ministerial warrant after he hired a car and headed east toward the border. Immigration official Robertson insisted the action was legal and Thaw was moved under guard with four men in charge.
E. T. Kibble urged Alliance to organize a live Commercial club to promote western Nebraska. He noted favorable climate and production in Box Butte county and urged action as boosters plan to mobilize Alliance business support to advertise the region.
Harry Thaw is at large in Averill Vermont after two Canadian officers, crossing the border at 8:55 am, set him free here. He hired a car and headed eastward. Canadian officials claim no agreement with American officers and say they did their duty.

Alliance Power Company weighs supplying electric irrigation across Box Butte County. Manager C A Dow received cost figures from G H Williams, with irrigation priced around 7 dollars per acre for 160 acre tracts plus lift costs. Dow aims to guarantee electricity powered irrigation within months and to make Box Butte County rival nearby counties using river water.
Lightning sparked a blaze on a farm of George Selhill south of Alliance, destroying roughly half a section of range. A hard fight, aided by a later shower, kept the flames from reaching farm buildings with help from Alliance fire crews arriving to combat the fast spreading fire.

Berlin reports a Zeppelin dive last night as the airship fell 600 feet into the North Sea. Seven bodies were recovered and eight people are missing. Survivors describe a sudden strike by a fierce storm that doomed the ship.
The Burlington Railroad has 200 workers laying 8,000 feet of steel daily on an extension toward Orin Junction. The line should reach Casper within a week, and grade work east of Casper is being rushed with only brief delays before resuming track laying.
East Swelters in heat contrasted with Box Butte county fame as exhibit visitors praised the moisture rich region. Rev. S. Baker returns from the Northwest Nebraska conference at Valentine with good news. He is reappointed as pastor for another year and the western district name changes to Alliance. The boundary now includes towns in the North Platte valley near the Burlington railroad, shifting district supervision to Alliance from Chadron.
Senator Ja Follette, lone Republican backing the Democratic tariff, serves on the conference committee and will push duties tied to the cost of production at home and abroad. He aims to win support from Progressive Republicans for a broadly acceptable tariff bill.
London reports Mrs Kniualing Pankhurst will sail from Havre France for New York October 11. On arrival she plans an 18 month speaking tour amid uncertain admission status. Ruth Morris returns from Carrington North Carolina where she spent six weeks with sisters Mrs Swanson and Mr P F L McCue.
